PROGRAM FOCUS

This program is open to players who live in Edina and/or attend school in Edina. 

The Edina 9th-12th Grade Boys Rec League offers opportunities for boys in grades 9-12 who do not participate in a school organized team yet live in and/or attend school in Edina.

REGISTRATION

Registration opens September 1, 2020 and runs through November 29, 2020. Click HERE to register.

Fees: $205

Late Registration: After registration closes, late registrations may be accepted, however a $25 late fee will be charged. Any registrations after the close of registration will be placed on a waitlist. Any kids on a waitlist are not guaranteed team placement.    

Refunds: Once teams are formed, all refunds are subject to the sole discretion of the EBA board, and if a refund is determined acceptable, a $25.00 admin fee will be imposed.

PLAYER EVALUATIONS

All registrants are required to participate in the mandatory player evaluation session. The purpose of these evaluations is to form most equitable teams possible. Player evaluations for all 9th-12th grade players will take place on Saturday, December 5 at South View Middle School as follows:

9th Grade

9:00am - 10:00am

10th Grade

10:00am - 11:00am

11th Grade

11:00am - 12:00pm

12th Grade

12:00pm - 1:00pm

 

 

 

 

 

 

TEAMS

After the evaluations, the teams are formed by an equidraft in which coaches and their sons are allowed and encouraged to participate. All teams will then play in an in-house “tournament” the second weekend in December.  Each team will play 2 games.

COACHES

The 9th-12th Grade Boys Rec League is a parent-coached program, so volunteer coaches are needed. Ideally, each team will have two coaches, a head coach and an assistant coach. Please consider volunteering your time and talents as eitehr a head or assistant coach. Coaches will be given one ball, first aid kit and game book. Click HERE to register as a coach.

Per Edina Parks & Recreation Department rules, all coaches are required go through a background check and complete an online video regarding concussion management

Southwest League:

The EBA participates in the Southwest Basketball League. Games are played on Sundays in Edina and neighboring communities including Minnetonka, Wayzata and Hopkins.  League play starts in January and ends with a tournament in March. There are separate teams for each grade level and teams will only play other teams at the same grade level (9th grade teams, 10th grade teams, 11th grade teams and 12th grade teams).

OPEN GYM

PLEASE NOTE: The EBA will not be hosting any Open Gym periods until further notice as the format does not align with our COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. We will communicate any change to this policy as conditions warrant. Thank you for your understanding!

UNIFORMS/BASKETBALL

Each player will receive a basketball jersey. Players are expected to bring their own basketball to evaluations, games and open gyms.
