9th-12th Grade Boys Rec League
Jeff Johnson - Commissioner
This program is only available to those players that live in the Edina boundries or go to school in Edina.
Please note: the EBA House VP's and Board Members decide how many practices and games for each team. We take feedback from previous years, along with ref costs, gym costs, gym availability from our district, safety, along with players additional school activities to make the best decision for the players and program. Parents, coaches, and players asking for changes at any time which include adding, subtracting, changing game times, practice times and, cancelling refs, will not be honored unless there are extenuating circumstances and they do not negatively affect the EBA and others. We do not reschedule or extend the season with games or practices due to school closures.
For all in-house and recreational league teams, parents will coach (ie:head coach and (assistant coach - if needed) and MUST COMPLETE AND PASS a concussion training video and background check. The EBA allows one head coach and one assistant coach to be registered. This keeps our costs in line with registration fees when paying for background checks.
The Edina 9th-12th Grade Rec League offers opportunities for boys in grade 9-12 who do not participate in a school organized team yet live in and/or attend school in Edina. Registration for this league will close November 30th. Registration Fees are $205.
Evaluations for all 9th-12th grade boys players will take place the first Saturday in December. Evaluations are held in order to form equitable teams. All registrants are required to participate in the mandatory evaluation session.
After the evaluations, the teams are formed by an equi-draft in which coaches and their sons are allowed and encouraged to participate. All teams will then play in an in-house “tournament” the second weekend in December. Each team will play 2 games.
Senior Rec. boys participate in the Southwest Basketball League. Games are played on Sundays in Edina and neighboring communities including Minnetonka, Wayzata and Hopkins. League play starts in January and ends with a tournament in March. There are separate teams for each grade level and teams will only play other teams at the same grade level (9th grade teams, 10th grade teams, 11th grade teams and 12th grade teams).

Open Gym Saturdays:
The EBA will schedule open gym time throughout the season on Saturdays which players can use for practice or to play pick-up games. Watch the EBA Website homepage for times and locations.
Each player will receive a basketball jersey. Players are expected to bring their own basketball to evaluations, games and open gyms.
We will need parent volunteers to coach each team. Coaches will be responsible for enforcing equal playing time rules. Coaches will be required to undergo a simple background check and be certified in concussion training. You will receive an invitation code to log into Trusted Coaches website where you will watch a short video and fill out background check information. If you already have a Trusted Coaches account from coaching baseball or football, please email our administrator:
