The Spring League is for 3rd grade boys and girls who want to experience a more competitive level of basketball and are considering playing in the EBA's Travel Program next season.

Q1. How many teams will be formed?

A1. We plan to form 4-6 boys teams and 3-5 girls teams. The number of teams will depend on the number of players who register.

Q2. When will player registration open and close?

A2. Registration will open in early March and close in mid-March. We will announce teams in late March.

Q3. When will practices be held?

A3. Each team will have 2 practices per week in Edina gyms on weekday nights, at either 6:15-7:30pm or 7:30-8:45pm. Practices will start the week of April 3rd and conclude at the end of May. After teams are formed, the coaches will coordinate with the team parents to determine which nights and times would work best to hold practices based on player and gym availability.

Q4. When will games be held?

A4. Each team will be entered into 2 locally hosted MYAS tournaments held on weekends against teams from other communities. These are either one-day or two-day tournaments with teams usually playing 3 games per tournament. There will also be a 3rd tournament on Tuesday evening 5/24 where the Edina teams will play each in the Edina High School Activity Center gyms.

Q5. My player is planning to play another sport or on another team in the spring. Will there be conflicts?

A5. First, to be clear, we love multi-sport athletes! We are structuring the league with that in mind. The 2 weekend tournament dates will be chosen after team formation by the team families in an effort to minimize conflicts. The dates of the 2 weeknight practices will also have some flexibility to minimize conflicts.

Q6. Will the spring league help prepare my player for Edina “Travel” basketball?

A6. Yes, the spring league will be a great way for your player to experience what it would be like to play on a 4th grade Edina traveI team this coming fall/winter. In case you are not familiar with the Edina Travel Basketball Program, the EBA has 310 kids from 4th-8th grade on 32 teams that play against teams from other local communities.

Q7. Who will coach the teams?

A7. The teams will be coached by experienced volunteer parent coaches from the 3rd grade EBA winter season. If you are interested in being a head or an assistant coach, please reach out to  .

Q8. What will be the cost to register my player and to attend the tournaments?

A8. The cost per player is $250. Scholarships are available. In addition, the sites hosting the 2 MYAS tournaments will be charging a $10 per day spectator admission fee. There will be no spectator admission fee to attend the 3rd tournament where the Edina teams will play each other.
