Terry Delahunt - Commissioner

This program is open to players who live in Edina and/or attend school in Edina. The focus of the 3rd and 4th Grade House program is to develop the player's skills, experience, and knowledge of basketball. Fundamentals and basics are the cornerstone of this league with an emphasis on Fun, Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Skills and Equal Playing Time.

***4th Grade Girls participate in the EBA's Rec Program. CLICK HERE for information.***

Please note: If the number of registrants for the boys' program does not support having two separate leagues, we will create one combined league with teams that include a balance of 3rd and 4th graders.

Registration opens September 1, 2021 and runs through October 7, 2021. CLICK HERE to register.

Fees: $185

Late Registration: The late registration period runs from October 8-22. After October 22, no additional registrations will be accepted. For all late registrations, a $25 additional fee will be charged. All late registrations will go onto a waitlist and there is no guarantee of team placement if your child is on a waitlist. If your child cannot be placed on a team, your fees will be refunded.

Refunds: Refunds are available until registration closes but are subject to a $25 admin fee. After registration closes, refunds will be granted at the discretion of the EBA (minus the $25 admin fee and any applicable late fee).

What Team Will My Child Play On?

Once registration is closed, teams will be formed. Typically, there are 8-10 players on a team, although at times, there may be a need to have more.

In forming the team, the EBA will honor one (1) mutual play-with request per player at the 3rd grade level. Only mutual (both players request each other) play-with requests can be honored. Multiple play-with requests or “daisy chain” requests cannot be honored. There are no play-with requests at the 4th grade level.

Once all play-with requests are satisfied, teams are formed by taking into consideration where the child attends school. Please note, this does not mean that every player on every team will be from the same school, but we will make every effort to ensure multiple kids from the same school are on a given team.

Late registrations are added to teams to round out rosters. There is no mutual play-with request for late registrars.

Who Coaches the Teams?

The 3rd & 4th Grade League coaches are parent volunteers. Ideally each team will have two coaches, a head coach and an assistant coach. Parent coaches will be coaching their child’s team. Please consider volunteering your talents and time as a head or assistant coach. CLICK HERE to register as a coach.

Per Edina Parks & Recreation Department rules, all coaches are required go through a background check and complete an online video regarding concussion management.

When Do the Kids Practice/Play?

Generally, players will be scheduled for 2 events each week. Events are categorized as practices and games.

Boys 4th grade play/practice Tuesdays and Thursdays
Boys 3rd grade play/practice Mondays and Tuesdays
Girls 3rd grade play/practice Tuesdays and Thursdays

Practices and games can start as early as 6:30pm and go as late as 9:00pm. Practices and games last between 45 and 50 minutes. A complete schedule of games, practices, clinics, etc. will be posted on each team's page. To access your team's page, click on the EBA TEAMS tab at the top of the page and use the drop downs to access your team's page.

Please note, in some cases when a Monday falls on a National holiday, teams may have to be moved into another gym location on a different night of that week. Please follow your schedule carefully.

Where Do the Kids Practice/Play?

Practices and games take place at Edina elementary schools: Highlands, Cornelia, Concord, Countryside and Creek Valley. Click HERE to visit edinashools.org for directions to each school.

What is the Hoop Height and Basketball Size?

Baskets are set at 10 feet for both grades.

Both grades will use a 27.5" ball consistent with MYAS rules.

What Equipment Does My Child Need?

All players will receive a jersey. Each player is responsible for wearing gym/basketball shoes, bringing their own water bottle and basketball.

What are the Playing Rules?

Games are officiated by paid referees and follow EBA’s rules for 3rd and 4th Grade. Click HERE for game rules.

Will There Be Team Photos?

The EBA will coordinate a photo day one day during the season.

What is My Responsibility as a Parent?

While your child is practicing/playing, you, the parent, are responsible for the actions of your other children. We ask that you keep them in the gym with you. They are not allowed to roam freely through the elementary schools.
