When does the season start and end?
The season will begin with registration available online starting August 2, 2010. Depending on the program in which your child participates, starting and ending dates will differ. Rookies and Peewees will begin in early November and end in late February or early March. The House League starts after Thanksgiving and is completed by the second week of March. Girls Traveling teams are selected in early October, and their tournament play begins the second weekend of November. Traveling season ends depending on advancement in State Tournaments but typically will be finished by mid-March. Boys Traveling teams are selected in late October and their tournament play begins in November. 9th Grade and Senior House begin play in early December.
When will my child be playing?
The EBA attempts to schedule events for each grade on a specific day of the week as best as possible. However, because of scheduling conflicts and the juggling of a finite number of gyms, it does not always work out that way. There will be 1 or 2 events per week for House, 1-2 events per week for Peewee (an event is a practice, game, or skills clinic) and two practices per week for travel teams.
The following are the planned event days by grade. This may change once the schedules are finalized.

When will I find out which team my child is on?
House league teams are assembled after traveling teams have been selected. Any player who tries out for traveling and does not make a team is automatically placed on a house league team. Team rosters will be communicated to all coaches in mid November. Coaches will then contact their players immediately after that. Rosters and schedules are also posted on the Edina Basketball website.
Rookie and Peewee teams will be assembled and rosters handed out to coaches on November 17. Coaches will contact their players immediately afterwards. Peewee rosters & schedules will be posted on the Edina Basketball website.

What do my fees pay for?
The EBA is organized and operated by a totally volunteer board with the exception of a paid administrative assistant. Registration fees for EBA programs pay for all the expenses of operation, which include costs of gym space, equipment including uniforms and basketballs, and referees. The peewee and house league programs utilize all volunteer coaches while the travel program has a paid coaching staff. Travel players are responsible for paying for their own uniforms.
The primary cost drivers for the EBA are the cost of gym time and referees.
What is the EBA refund policy?
Refunds are available until the close of the registration process (October 20). After that date, refunds are given only for the following reasons:
1. Inability to play, supported by a written doctors statement.
2. Moving out of the city.
Fees will be refunded on a pro-rated basis. All refunds are subject to a $20 administrative charge.
Can I request that my child be on the same team as another child?
In the Rookie, Peewee, Development and House leagues, the EBA attempts to honor one mutual play-with request to the best of our ability. There are no guarantees. Keep in mind it is our goal to have teams competing fairly and equally. Honoring all requests will not lead to balanced teams. In grades Kindergarten through 4th, teams are generally assembled based around schools, though in 3rd & 4th grade players will be evaluated in order to create team balance. Starting in grade 6 and above, the first and foremost consideration is team balance. Parents can request to coach with one another, thereby including your children (limit of 2 coaches per team).
Do I have to sign up for the house league if I want to try out for traveling or 9th Grade School Team?
Yes. EBA registration is for all leagues and is mandatory. If you elect to try out for a traveling team, please indicate your intent on the application and you will be contacted about the dates, times and locations of the tryouts. Ninth graders should also register for EBA it they want to play in the house league and do not make an Edina school team. Ninth graders who register for EBA House League and DO make a school team, your registration will be refunded in full.
What gyms are used and where are they located?
Rookie, Peewee and Development use all of the elementary schools (Countryside, Cornelia, Concord, Creek Valley and Highlands) because of the basket height. The House league primarily uses the Middle schools, Valley View and South View. The Travel league uses Valley View and South View plus the High School and Community Center.
Maps and Directions to all gym locations can be accessed here.
