When does the season start and
end?
The season will begin with registration
available online starting August 3, 2008. Depending on the
program in which your child participates, starting and ending dates will
differ. Peewees will begin in early November and end the last
week in February. The House League starts after Thanksgiving and
is completed by the second week of March. Traveling teams are
selected in early October, and their play begins the second
weekend of November. Traveling season ends depending on
advancement in State Tournaments but typically will be finished
by mid-March.
When will my child be playing?
The EBA attempts to schedule events for
each grade on a specific day of the week as best as possible.
However, because of scheduling conflicts and the juggling of a
finite number of gyms, it does not always work out that way.
There will be 1 or 2 events per week for House and 1 event per
week for Peewee (an event is a practice, game, or skills
clinic).
The following are the planned event days
by grade. This may change once the schedules are finalized.
Grades 1-2 (Peewee)
Saturday
Grade 3 Development
Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday evening
Grade 4 Development
Monday,
Tuesday or Thursday evening
Grade 5 House

Grade 6 House

Grade 7 House

Grade 8 House

Grade 9 House

Grades 10-12 House

Where will events and practices
be held?
All locations are listed to the left with
maps and driving instructions.
When will I find out which team
my child is on?
House league teams are assembled after
traveling teams have been selected. Any player who tries out for
traveling and does not make a team is automatically placed on a
house league team. Team rosters will be communicated to all
coaches in mid November. Coaches will then contact their players
immediately after that.
Peewee teams will be assembled and rosters
handed out to coaches on November 1st. Coaches will
contact their players immediately afterwards.
Is the EBA for girls or boys or
both?
Yes - The EBA is the basketball source for
both boys and girls, regardless of age or skills and is
structured to support all levels of play.
When do I have to register by?
Registration begins August 3rd and runs
through October 21st. After October 21st a late fee of $25.00
will be added to the registration fee.
What do my fees pay for?
The EBA is organized and operated by a
totally volunteer board. Registration fees for EBA programs pay
for all the expenses of operation, which include costs of gym
space, equipment, and referees. The peewee and house league
programs utilize all volunteer coaches while the travel program
has a paid coaching staff.
The primary cost drivers for the EBA are
the cost of gym time and referees.
What is the EBA refund policy?
Refunds are available until the close of
the registration process (October XX). After that date, refunds
are given only for the following reasons:
-
Inability to play, supported by a
written doctor’s statement.
-
Moving out of the city.
Fees will be refunded on a pro-rated
basis. All refunds are subject to a $20 administrative charge.
Can I request that my child be
on the same team as another child?
In the Peewee, Development and House
leagues, the EBA attempts to honor mutual play-with requests to
the best of our ability. There are no guarantees. Keep in mind
it is our goal to have teams competing fairly and equally.
Honoring all requests will not lead to balanced teams. In grades
3 through 5, teams are generally assembled based around schools.
Starting in grade 6 and above, the first and foremost
consideration is team balance. Parents can request to coach with
one another, thereby including your children (limit of 2 coaches
per team).
Do I have to sign up for the
house league if I want to try out for traveling or 9th Grade
School Team?
Yes. EBA registration is for all leagues
and is mandatory. If you elect to try out for a traveling team,
please indicate your intent on the application and you will be
contacted about the dates, times and locations of the tryouts.
Ninth graders should also register for EBA it they want to play
in the house league and do not make an Edina school team. Ninth
graders who register for EBA House League and DO make a school
team, your registration will be refunded in full.
What gyms are used and where
are they located?
Peewee and Development League use all of
the elementary schools - Countryside, Cornelia, Concord, Creek
Valley and Highlands. House league primarily uses the
middle schools - Valley View and South View. Traveling uses
Valley View & South View, plus the Edina Community Center and
the High School (Main gym and Field House). For maps to all
locations, click here.
