BOYS AND GIRLS HOUSE LEAGUE

The EBA’s House League program provides Edina boys and girls of all playing abilities and experience an opportunity to play organized and competitive basketball.  The program is currently available to boys in grade's 5-12 and girls in grades 5-8.  Players in the House League either decided not to play in the traveling program or school teams, or did not make one of those teams during tryouts.

Schedule: End of November through Beginning of March

All house leagues play a combination of practices and games for 16 nights over the course of the season, concluding with a league tournament at the end of the season.  For leagues that play more than one day per week, teams in that league could play 2 times, once, or not at all in any given week.  A schedule cannot be finalized until the EBA knows how many players and teams there are in each league

Boys

5th & 6th Grade House - practice/play Monday and Friday evenings with Saturday clinics

7th & 8th Grade House - practice/play Tuesday and Friday evenings with Saturday clinics

9th Grade House - plays 5-6 pm on Monday & Tuesday at South View Middle School

10th,11th,12th Grade House – play on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at South View Middle School and Sunday afternoon 1 - 4 PM at ECC City Gym

Girls

5th/6th Grade House – Tuesday practices and Saturday games with West Metro League

7th /8th Grade House – Tuesday & Thursday practices and Saturday games with West Metro League

Coaches

We need nearly 150 coaches to direct the skills development and fun of the kids.

Please consider volunteering your time to coach, co-coach or assist as a parent manager this year.  House League coaches are adult volunteers interested in working with youth and interested in basketball.

Grades 5-8

Boys in grades 5-8 will have a mix of games and practices starting in Mid November and going through the end of February.  Starting in 5th grade, team balance is the foremost concern. Therefore, the EBA instituted an Equidraft system that allows board members and coaches to participate in building balanced teams. Parents coaching will always have their children playing together with them. The season starts late November and ends with a tournament in early March. Throughout the year, each player will have approximately 16 events (games, practices, clinics).

Grade 9

The EBA offers a 9th grade House League for those players not participating on a school organized team. The 9th grade program is intended to be purely a recreational league for fun, with no expectation of continued skill development. The 9th grade league runs from December through mid March, with games played after school at either Valley View or South View . Registration for 9th grade house league will begin in August and run through team selection for school teams. There will be no late fees after October 31, 2008 for 9th league players!

High School League

The Edina Basketball Association expanded their house league to include 10th, 11th and 12th grades last year. It was a success as nearly 70 boys played during the inaugural season. The season begins in December and runs through the beginning of March. There are up to two games per week, and they are played on Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoons.

The purpose of this league is to create opportunities for kids that have participated in the EBA throughout their youth to continue to play basketball in a structured environment. To that end, we have a league coordinator that will be present at all games to help oversee the games and handle any issues. These games will be professionally refereed. However, we will only be scheduling games but can make court time available for practicing.

HOME OF THE 2008-09 SW Metro Rec League 7TH/8TH  GRADE CHAMPIONS!

The Edina Girls House League season runs from Mid-November until end of February.  For the second year we will be working in conjunction with the Minnetonka and Wayzata House League programs for games. Including Edina teams, we expect between 10 and 12 teams per grade in this new inter community House League.

Each team will have two practices in November with their first game in December.  Each team will have one practice a week during the season in addition to the Saturday games. We estimate roughly 25+ hours of activity.

All games are on Saturdays. Last year there were 9 regular season games and then a two day tournament at the end of February that provided another 3+ games. At least 12 games all in and tournament winners received medals.

Games will be in Minnetonka, Wayzata, and Edina, but all weekly practices will be held in Edina facilities.
