The Edina Peewee Basketball
League is a parent coached, non-competitive
basketball program designed to develop fundamental
skills and to promote fun while participating in
organized practice and games. The program is offered
to all first and second grade boys and girls
who live in, or attend school in Edina.
The focus of the Edina Peewee
Basketball League is to teach basketball skills
including: passing, defense, dribbling, shooting,
basic techniques, and coordination. The Edina Peewee Basketball League encourages a positive learning
environment, builds confidence and self-esteem, and
provides positive feedback while striving for
success.
Whenever possible, teams will
be selected from the same general neighborhood area
and/or schools. All teams will be gender specific
will be made up of 1/2 first graders and 1/2 second
graders.
Peewees use a size
27.5 junior ball and an 8-foot hoop. Countryside, Creek Valley, Cornelia, and Concord Elementary
schools will be primary hosts for the program.
Saturday games are scheduled
on a rotating basis at 8, 9, 10, 11 am, 12 pm or 1
pm. This means your son or daughter will play at
different times each week, at one of four elementary
school gyms in Edina.
Note: The following are planned dates for each league
and are subject to change until final schedules are
posted.
