The tryout process is conducted by
hired evaluators not affiliated with the EBA. Results of
the evaluations will be posted on the EBA website at the
conclusion of tryouts on Sunday September 28th (6th-8th
grade), and Sunday evening October the 5th for 5th
graders. An additional session will be scheduled for
6th-8th graders on October 4th for final team assignments, which will be
posted on the EBA website. These team assignments are
made by the traveling coaches involved. Practices will
begin in 3rd or 4th week of October. The chart below
designates how the teams will be described for the
2008/2009 season;

5th Grade A B C (total of three
teams)
6th Grade A B C (total of three
teams)
7th Grade A B C (total of three
teams)
8th Grade A B C (total of three
teams)
Those that are not selected for a
traveling team will provided an excellent opportunity
for further development in the Edina Basketball House
League Program.
The EBA believes in equitable
playing time for all participants in traveling
basketball. Our coaches will make all decisions relating
to playing time as a game strategy component. Players
that fully participate in practices will be assured a
minimum of 40% playing time in each tournament.
FIFTH GRADE TRAVELING BOYS
BASKETBALL- 2008/2009 SEASON
The EBA will be offering a “no
cut” policy for any fifth grade basketball player
desiring to play traveling basketball. Players not
qualifying for the teams listed above will be placed on
a team that will play fewer tournaments and will be lead
by paid coaches with basic skill development as the
primary focus.
Our intent is to select one ‘A’
team for the more advanced/experienced players, one ‘B’
team for those that grade out accordingly, and 1 ‘C’
teams for developing players. Due to the heavy time
obligation required for traveling basketball, we ask
that players in fifth grade choose either the house or
traveling program, but not both. These teams will be
coached by parent volunteers approved by the EBA.
