FAQ’s
Q: Will the girl’s traveling program change now that
girls and boys are together under the EBA banner?
A: Yes. It will change for the better! By leveraging
the best practices of both associations, our goal is to
offer the best basketball experience for all kids in
Edina – boys and girls.
Q: Are girls cut in traveling program?
A: That really depends on the total number of girls
that tryout for each grade. Historically, the program
has not had to make cuts and we make every effort to
place girls at the right level. But we do reserve that
option.
Fortunately, thanks to the new developmental house
league, we now have a team for any girl who wants to
play basketball in Edina.
Q: How many girls on are each team?
A: Again, that depends on the number of girls that
try out. The typical range is 8 to 10 players per team.
Q: What is the caliber of the coaching in girls
traveling?
A: Excellent. Our current coaching roster includes
men and women with extensive high school and college
playing experience. The fun of traveling basketball is
learning new skills, new techniques, and new plays.
We’re very proud of our coaching staff and feel they are
among the best in the State of Minnesota.
Q: What else does EBA do to promote skill
development?
A: Through our partnership with Minnesota Development
Basketball, the EBA offers in-season skill development
to both players and coaches. This was started in 2005
and the feedback from coaches, players, and parents was
overwhelmingly positive.
Q: Isn’t traveling basketball too time consuming?
Will our family have a life during basketball season?
A: Compared to hockey, softball, soccer, and other
sports, traveling basketball is very family-friendly.
Practices are two times per week and all but one
tournament is held in the Greater Metro area.
