Below is a list of several important topics related to our Boys and Girls Travel Program. This information can also be found on the EBA website under Programs > Travel > Boys 3rd-8th Grade or Girls 3rd-8th Grade at the top of the homepage.

Parent Information Meeting
The Travel Parent Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10 from 6:30 to 8:00pm at the South View Middle School auditorium. Please enter using Door 10 on the northwest corner of the building. There will be a presentation detailing the key aspects of the Travel Program with time afterwards for Q and A.

Pre-Tryout Clinics
The EBA is partnering with EHS Varsity Head Coaches Jon Bryant and Dre Jefferson to offer Pre-Tryout Clinics the week of September 16 at the Edina Community Center (boys) and South View Middle School (girls). These clinics are OPTIONAL but strongly encouraged as they give players the opportunity to experience the drills that will be used during the tryout process. The cost is $30 for both sessions or $15 for one session. Registration closes at midnight on September 14. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.

Tryouts
Travel Tryouts will take place on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22. There will be an additional evaluation for Boys 5th-8th Grade to determine team placement on Sunday, September 28. CLICK HERE FOR THE TRYOUT SCHEDULE. Teams for 3rd-4th grade boys and 4th-8th grade girls will be announced on Monday, September 23. Teams for 5th-8th grade boys will be announced on Monday, September 29. Players who are not selected for the Travel Program will receive a full refund minus the $60 Tryout Fee.

Parent Coaches
Our 3rd and 4th grade travel teams will require parent coaches this year. Plus, it is also likely that we will need parent coaches for some of our 5th-8th grade teams. If you would be interested in coaching this season, please contact us at admin@edinabasketball.com and provide your contact information as well as the name and grade level of your player. Your willingness to coach will have no bearing on the level of team your player will make.

Travel Kick-Off and Coaches Clinic
We are excited to announce that Johnny Tauer - Head Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of St. Thomas has agreed to be the keynote speaker at our Travel Kick-Off and Coaches Clinic on Saturday, October 12. This event will take place at the EHS Activity Center starting at 9am. Light refreshments will be provided. Please save the date and plan on attending! Following Coach Tauer’s message, EHS Varsity Coaches Jon Bryant and Dre Jefferson facilitate on-court breakout sessions specifically for Travel Coaches in attendance. Parents will be dismissed before the breakout sessions at approximately 10am.

Sponsors Needed
The EBA is once again providing local businesses with the opportunity to sponsor one or more of our Travel Teams this season. Being a sponsor not only shows your support for Edina Basketball but helps make it possible for the EBA to provide financial aid for deserving families, college scholarships for high school seniors and funding for high school programs. Please email LeeAnna Kalscheur at lkalscheur@me.com or Chad Bell at cbellfidio@gmail.com if you have questions or want to sign up. We look forward to hearing from you!

MLK Weekend
Tournament schedules have been finalized and can be found on our website under PROGRAMS > TRAVEL > TOURNAMENT SCHEDULES. One significant change we would like to point out is that we have scheduled both boys and girls to play in tournaments the weekend before MLK Day on January 20. We realize this is a district holiday, so we wanted to make sure you were aware well in advance.

Should you have any additional questions about our Travel Program, please contact Boys’ Travel Director, Jon Newburg at jon.newburg@gmail.com or Girls’ Co-Directors Paul Crowley at paul.r.crowley@gmail.com or Nora Thelen at angell.nora@gmail.com.
