SOUTHWEST LEAGUE
The EBA participates in the Southwest Basketball League. Games are played on Sundays in Edina and neighboring communities including Minnetonka, Wayzata and Hopkins. League play starts in January and ends with a tournament in March. There are separate teams for each grade level and teams will only play other teams at the same grade level (9th grade teams, 10th grade teams, 11th grade teams and 12th grade teams).
PROGRAM FOCUS
The Edina 9th-12th Grade Boys Rec League offers opportunities for boys in grades 9-12 who do not participate in a school organized team yet live in and/or attend school in Edina.
REGISTRATION
Registration opens November 1, 2024 and runs through December 5, 2024.
Registration Fee: $235 per player
Late Registration: A player may be registered after registration closes; however, a $25 Late Fee will be added to the total amount due at checkout. Players who are registered late will be placed on a waitlist and are not guaranteed placement on a team.
Refunds: Refunds are available until registration closes but are subject to a $25 Processing Fee. After registration closes, refunds will be granted at the discretion of the Program Director (minus the $25 Processing Fee and applicable Late Fee).
PLAYER EVALUATIONS
All registrants are required to participate in the mandatory player evaluation session. The purpose of these evaluations is to form the most equitable teams possible.
Player Evaluations will take place on Saturday, December 7 at South View Middle School in the main gym.
TEAM FORMATION
Rec teams will be formed using the equi-draft process. Parent coaches should plan on attending Player Evaluations and the equi-draft as they will be responsible for picking teams.
COACHES
The 9th-12th Grade Boys Rec League is a parent-coached program, so volunteer coaches are needed and required in order to have a team. You must be 18 years or older and pass the background check, concussion training and child safety to coach. Ideally, each team will have two coaches, a head coach and an assistant coach. Please consider volunteering your time and talents as either a head or assistant coach. Coaches will be given one ball, first aid kit and game book. Please note: All coaches must pass a criminal background check each year and complete online training regarding child safety and concussion awareness once every three years.
OPEN GYM
The Senior Rec Program provides Open Gym sessions for all participants to use throughout the season. These sessions can be used for skill work, team practice or pick up games. CLICK HERE for the gym schedule.
UNIFORMS/BASKETBALL
Each player will receive a basketball jersey. Players are expected to bring their own basketball to evaluations, games and open gyms.
